A Deep-Sea Wonder Without Glass: LEGO Icons Tropical Aquarium #10366
LEGO is trying something quite new again — not another spaceship or castle, but a colorful underwater world.
The new LEGO Icons Tropical Aquarium (10366) will be released on November 16, 2025, priced at $479.99 USD, with 4,154 pieces.
It’s one of the few big LEGO sets that doesn’t rely on movie or licensed themes, focusing instead on nature and color.
A Living Ecosystem Built from Bricks
LEGO calls it a “peaceful natural display,” and that description fits pretty well.
The model is about 52 cm wide, 36 cm tall, and 28 cm deep. It’s an aquarium scene — but surprisingly, there’s no glass.
Instead of transparent walls, LEGO made an open-frame build, so you can see every coral and fish from any side. It feels more like a stage than a tank, and it works better for showing details.
Motion Beneath the Waves
This aquarium isn’t just for display — it actually moves.
There’s a small mechanical system inside the reef that you can control by turning a crank on the side.
When you turn it, the fish swing their tails, a crab comes out and hides again, and even the treasure chest opens and shuts.
It’s kind of fun to see everything move together, like a little theater under the sea.
A Burst of Color
After years of gray-toned flagships like the Titanic or the Falcon, this one is full of color.
Bright orange clownfish, pink coral, and green seaweed stand out beautifully.
Under normal light or LED light, it looks vivid and full of life.
The “No Glass” Debate
Some LEGO fans online are a bit confused about the “aquarium without glass” idea.
They say an aquarium should have glass — that’s the whole point. Others worry it’ll collect dust too easily.
One Reddit comment joked, “In a few months it’ll be a dust reef.”
Still, many people like the open design since it’s easier to look at and to use the crank without removing panels.
In the end, it seems LEGO is experimenting — not just building realistic models, but ones that feel more like art pieces.
Someone made a good suggestion, which is to remove the black frame around it and encapsulate it with acrylic board. That will form a real fish tank. I think you can even consider filling it with water, putting a few fish in it, and building an oxygen circulation system. I am looking forward to someone doing this experiment.
ZENE Bricks Light Kit: Bring the Ocean to Life
After the experience of the last aquarium, ZENE quickly focused on this product and has entered the design stage. The lighting and power pack products will be released as soon as possible.
ZENE Bricks also offers discounts for buyers — use code ZENE5 for 5% off one item, or ZENE5 for 25% off five kits.
The Artistic Side of LEGO
This set shows that LEGO is trying new directions.
It’s not just about building structures anymore, but also about creating feelings and motion.
For collectors, it’s a calm and colorful centerpiece.
For LEGO, it’s one more step toward turning bricks into art.
